July Children's and Teen Programs at Kendall Young Library
Children’s Summer Reading Program – Patrons, birth to 5th grade, are invited to join in a variety of “Level Up at your Library” summer programs. There is a reading challenge, activity bingo, and great programs each week. Please make sure to return entries by July 31st for the summer drawings.
Children’s Special Events –
Tuesday, July 8th, 5:00-7:00pm – Family Pool Party at the Webster City Outdoor Pool – Free event for the whole family
Thursday, July 10th. 10:30-11:30am – Fonziba Drums (ages 8+) at Kendall Young Library
Thursday, July 17th, 6:00pm – Family Foam Party at Webster City Market Night – sponsored by Kendall Young Library
Children’s Weekly Programs –
Wild Things 1 (PreK-K) will meet on Monday, July 7th and 14th from 10:30-11:30AM.
Wild Things 2 (1st-2nd grade) will meet on Tuesday, July 1st, 8th, and 15th from 10:30-11:30AM.
Fuzzy Ducklings (Under 3 years) will meet on Wednesday, July 2nd, 9th, and 16th from 10:30-11:30AM.
Tween’s Time (3rd – 5th grade) will meet on Thursday, July 3rd, 10th, and 17th from 10:30-11:30AM.
Hungry Caterpillars (Preschool) will meet on Friday, July 11th, and 18th from 10:30-11:30AM.
Teen Summer Reading Program – Patrons, 6th to 12th grade, are invited to join in a variety of “Level Up at your Library” summer programs. There is a 10-day reading challenge along with both scheduled and "on your own time" programs each week. Detailed information is available at the Adult Checkout Desk or in the Teen Area. Please make sure to get all entries in by July 31st.
Game of the Week – Each week throughout the summer there will be new game featured as the “Game of the Week”. Mondays from 10:00-11:00am the game will be presented with the rule and an opportunity to play with friends. The game will also be available all week if you want to stop-in, try it out, and vote thumbs-up/ thumbs-down on how you liked the game.
Teen Lounge – Patrons in 6th-12th grade are invited on Tuesday from 10:00-11:30AM. Join us weekly for video games, snacks, crafts, board games, and more!
Special crafts in the theme of “Level Up At Your Library” will be provided each week.
Teen Games – “Fun before the Sun…Thursdays” is time for games and adventures. Each Thursday from 10:00-11:30AM, Teens are invited for activities such as games, movies, a scavenger hunt, and mini golf which will be held inside the library. Bring a friend and stop in before heading outside for the afternoon!
Teen Crafternoons – Again Back by popular demand, the Kendall Young Teen area will have a Crafternoon Station throughout the summer. Each week, beginning on Wednesdays, a new craft will be presented. This activity is available whenever the library is open. Make plans to stop each week and find your creative side!
The Teen Area STEM Cart is available for the adventurous builder. We have a variety of plans that can prime your inventive spirit! All materials will be provided. Teens are invited to stop at the reference desk anytime throughout the month to get more information. This activity will be available all summer long!
Community Lego Build – Students are invited to participate in building the Lego Disney Villain Icons. This project is available during all open hours of the library and it located in the Young Adult Area.
As always, the Teen area located in the Kendall Young Library offers a variety of board games, community Lego build, Chromebooks, video games, books, and activities that are always available. Stop in for the fun!

COMING IN AUGUST – Make your calendars for a Teen Puzzle Competition. August 12th, teens can show off their puzzling skills. Details and registration to come!
