KYL - Children's and Teen Programming - January 2026

Cooking with Miss Doreen – Monday, January 5th from 11:30AM-1:00PM, 3rd-5th Graders are invited to stop in and make a Pizza in a Mug with Miss Doreen.  This activity is a great little lunch for kids on their last winter vacation day!

 

Weekly Programs

 

LEGO Build (Children’s Department) – Each Monday from 3:30-4:30PM throughout January there is the opportunity for kids to test their building skills.  We have a variety of Legos and would love to see your creations.  Bring a friend and get building!

 

Tales Around the Town – Kendall Young Library invites patrons to a Family Storytime each Monday Evening from 5:00PM-6:00PM(*Note time change).  Along with local Webster City businesses will be taking storytime on the road.  The first event of each month will be at a designated location, hear a story and experience the host location!  The following weeks will be held at Kendall Young Library with special activities and family experiences. January is full of excitement as we visit a new place and get messy with some projects.  No registration required.  Just follow the signs for the fun!

Jan. 19th – Kendall Young Library (1201 Willson Ave.) – Puffy Finger Painting

Jan. 26th – Kendall Young Library (1201 Willson Ave.) – Toothbrush Painting

 

Wild Things (TK-2nd) will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45PM in January. This time will offer a variety of stories and activities each week. Join us for all the adventures.

 

Fuzzy Ducklings (Under 3 years) will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:30AM in January.  This parent/child experience is fun for everyone.

 

Hungry Caterpillars (3/4 year Preschool) will meet on Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:30AM in January.  This is a fun and interactive story time!

 

Tween’s Time (3rd – 5th grade) will meet on Thursdays from 3:45-5:00PM in January. They will explore crafts, STEM, cooking and so much more.

 

Friday Cookies, Scoops, & Books – Drop in at the Children’s Department on Fridays (January 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th) between 3:30-4:30PM for an afternoon snack as you pick up some books for the weekend. This is a come-and-go event.

 

Drop-In Saturdays – Kids and families are invited to “Drop-In” to enjoy a time to get creative!  Each Saturday in the Children’s Department there will be a come-and-go activity available from 10:00AM-4:00PM.

Jan. 17th Winter Paper Wreaths

Jan. 24th – Play-doh Fun

Jan. 30th – Snow Painting


Teen Lounge – Patrons in 6th-12th grade are invited each Tuesday in January from 3:30-5:00PM. Join us weekly for special activities, video games, snacks, crafts, board games, and more!  This time and place is perfect to hang out with friends and is a come-and-go style event. 


 


Homeschool TECH BUILD - Students will have time to build a Projectile Launcher and explore different design options. On Thursday, January 15th from 1:00-3:00PM patrons will you the opportunity to follow plans to build, but also have the option to make modifications to improve the design.  This is program is designed for youth 2nd-12th grade and will be held each month in the Teen Area. Parent participation is encouraged.


 


As always, every day the Teen area located in the Kendall Young Library offers a variety of crafts, board games, community Lego build, Chromebooks, video games, books, and STEM Cart activities that are always available.  Stop in for the fun!
